Oh, well, very gloomy and sad ... so it should be?
* * *The project In My Despair was created by Artem Berestov in 2015, when he discovered Lebanon Hanover and She Past Away and he wanted to compose such music. There were ideas, trial tracks, and in 2016 he invited Andy to take part in the project. Began rehearsals, began to write material, began to appear thoughts about concert activity, found Alex on the bass guitar and as a result recorded the first EP, which released the domestic label Darkpage.
Julia V: Which of you composes music, lyrics?
Artem Berestovoy: Everyone is involved in writing music: I'm vocals and keys, Andy is guitar, Alex is bass. Texts and the basis of music I write, Alex and Andy recycle the tracks and bring the party to the final sound.
Julia V: I know, you, Artem, have a parallel project. Do you have enough time, thoughts, inspiration, strength, to combine?
Artyom Berestovoy: Actually, I have 6 projects and all are diverse. The focus is on In My Despair and Noise Resistance. Of course, I would like to give more time to music, I would like to do music only in the future. It is not harmful to dream, but I hope, all the same it will turn out. Thoughts and inspiration for projects are completely different. In Noise Resistance, I express more philosophical thoughts about modern society, and in In My Despair some personal thoughts and experiences. The music is diverse, it's more interesting to work. In one day the mood is the one and want to write dark electro, the next day you open the programs and in general you can not think of anything, but it turns out gothic, and on the third day, in general, atmospheric black metal, for example)
Julia V: I would also like to ask Andy and Alex: how is your creative activity going and whether it's limited to In My Despair?
Alex: Now I'm only playing In My Despair, I'm deeply immersed in this stuff and I can not do other projects yet.
Andy: No, it's not limited. I am also a participant of Noise Resistance in live performances. And we have with Artem preparing a project in the atmosphere of black metal, which was already a little hint a little higher) The problem is only with the time that I can devote to these groups. Black has already had to be postponed for an indefinite period, because all the forces now go to In My Despair.
Julia V: How different it is. And do not you think that, as the proverb says: "For two hares you will chase - you will not catch a single one"? This is folk wisdom. And metal, and gothic, and dark electro. Or you are from the principle: "What will be more successful, then the emphasis will be placed"?
Andrei Bespamyatnykh: Not exactly. We do not chase the hares, but simply do what we like. If you need to devote all the time to one group - well, there is time for the second project - excellent!)
Artyom Berestovoy: After the concert, Oomph talked with their guitarist Flyux, he also told me to concentrate on one project and develop it. But just not interesting)) All ideas in one project can not be realized. For example, when I started writing music at the time, I thought about doing trance, but I did not grow up, and this year I took and wrote two tracks and laid them out under the name Frozen & Frozen, maybe someday I'll do something else in trance , if there are ideas, I do not deny it, but the basis of my attention at the moment is Noise Resistance and In My Despair, and I want to develop these projects more actively.
Julia V: And who are you engaged in in your free time? How do you make a living?
Artyom Berestovoy: You have to make a living not a favorite thing, unfortunately. I work as an economist at the plant, I study, I get the 3rd diploma, which of course reduces the time for my projects, but I try to devote all my free time to them.
Andy: Well, the plant is not that bad. I also work at the plant, but as the head of the Bureau of Research and Development. I like my work - interesting)
Alex: I'm in the city's electricity networks, an expert on land issues.
Julia V: Do your colleagues at work know that you are engaged in music? How to relate to this?
Andy: My know exactly - they always ask me to include something "from my own", to show video from performances, etc. In February, they promise to come to the concert.
Artyom Berestovoy: In the course, but I'm not really talking really about my work, they are normal, but for them my work is something "from another world."
Andy: About the "other world" agree. Forever those surprised voices))
Julia V: And often, in general, in life, you have to face with a misunderstanding, the plan: "What? You play in a band? Yes, you are already how old? You have a group, and why? And you get money for this? And why then? " and all in that spirit.
Alex: I have never faced this before in 7 or 8 years that I play in groups.
Andy: A couple of times in my life there were such questions in my address. But they were asked by such people that they did not need to pay attention, so everything was OK) For me it's a hobby.
Artyom Berestovoy: I did not come across such a thing, rather, it was with misunderstanding of the music itself.
Julia V: How do people react to In My Despair? You've already given concerts in Yekaterinburg?
Andy: I remember most of the reaction of my grandmother when she presented her CD: "Oh, well, very gloomy and sad ... so it should be?". On the right path we go: D
Artyom Berestovoy: The audience responded very well to our music at the debut concert, I was honestly a little nervous, although it was not the first concert on stage. As everything will pass, as the public appreciates, I was worried. Well, we can say that we have passed through the "baptism of fire" and are ready to light up any further.
Julia V: Do you have a music education behind your back?
Artyom Berestovoy: Yes, I graduated from music school in piano, and started with an accordion, but for certain reasons I was transferred to a piano)
Alex: No, it's not.
Andy: Nope.
Julia V: Accordion then did not stay at home?) And then so, once - came friends, got a chiffonier accordion and let's talk about the Kalina-raspberry.
Artyom Berestovoy: I stayed, but I rarely play.
Julia V: In My Despair - to whom or to whom does the band have their name?
Artem Berestovoy: Initially, the group was called "State of despair", but it seemed to me that the name was not sonorous and I offered the guys such an option, they approved). Why this name? Well, since the texts are so personal, it probably symbolizes my inner state of disappointment, which I received from life, from other people ...
.. And then we have been knocked out internet: D
Seriously, it remains for us to observe how the work of this young group from Yekaterinburg will develop.
